Custom 2.4m Balloon Columns for the Kidstuff Chatswood Opening

For the Kidstuff opening at Westfield Chatswood, the client wanted balloon columns that would be visible in the shopping-centre storefront. The brief included a custom overall height of 2.4 metres, so a larger base was selected for the taller format. The finished columns used Kidstuff’s red-and-white direction, with a large branded balloon at the top.

The wide storefront photograph shows how the columns framed the shop entrance, while the portrait photographs bring the height, colour and branding details into focus.

Custom height

Designing for a taller format

The client requested a taller-than-standard balloon-column format, with the finished columns reaching 2.4 metres overall. That change affected more than the visual height: it also meant selecting a larger base for the finished installation.

This is part of the value of a custom balloon brief. The height, base and visual proportions can be considered together so the finished piece suits the setting and the client’s requirements.

Branding and colour

Bringing the brand into the balloon display

The red-and-white palette was chosen to work naturally with the Kidstuff storefront. A large branded balloon at the top created a clear visual connection with the shop, while the repeated red-and-white balloon pattern kept the display simple and recognisable.

The branded detail gives the columns a role beyond decoration: they help introduce the store and make the opening frontage feel considered from the customer’s first view.

Storefront context

Made for the storefront

The Westfield Chatswood shopfront provided a busy retail backdrop, so the balloon columns needed to be visible without competing with the store’s products and signage. The taller format gave the display presence at the entrance, and the matching columns helped create a balanced opening presentation across the frontage.

The wide onsite photograph captures the overall relationship between the columns and the store. The closer views show the branded balloon, red-and-white arrangement and larger base detail.

The final result

A taller branded welcome for a retail opening

This Kidstuff opening project shows how a balloon-column design can be adapted for a business setting. The client’s special height requirement led to a 2.4-metre format and a larger base, while the red-and-white branded finish connected the decoration to the store.
