Balloon Care Guide
Balloons are delicate products and can be affected by temperature, sunlight, rough surfaces, transport conditions and how they are handled after pickup or delivery.
Please follow this balloon care guide to help your helium balloons, personalised balloons, balloon bouquets and event balloons look their best for your celebration.
Shop Helium Balloons Pickup GuideImportant: Remove Balloons from Transport Bags
For delivery and pickup orders, balloons may be packed in large plastic transport bags to help protect them during transport. These bags are only intended for transporting balloons from our store or delivery vehicle to your location.
Please remove balloons from the plastic transport bag as soon as you receive them. Do not leave helium balloons sealed inside plastic bags, especially inside a car or in places with large temperature changes.
Please reuse or recycle the plastic transport bags where possible.
Temperature, Sunlight and Heat
Balloons are sensitive to temperature. Heat can cause helium or air inside balloons to expand, which may make balloons change shape or pop. Cold temperatures can make balloons appear softer or smaller, and they may expand again when returned to room temperature.
Please avoid leaving balloons in hot cars, direct sunlight, near heaters, near ovens, near fireplaces, or beside windows with strong sun exposure.
Transporting Balloons Safely
If you are picking up balloons from our Chatswood store, please make sure your car has enough clean and empty space before collection. Balloon bouquets, number balloons, personalised balloons, bubble balloons and large helium balloons may require more space than expected.
Use Enough Space
Avoid squeezing balloons into a small car. For larger orders, a bigger vehicle is recommended.
Keep Balloons Clear
Do not place heavy items, bags or sharp objects on top of or close to balloons.
Avoid Heat
Do not leave balloons in a hot car or in direct sunlight for an extended period.
Open the Bag
Remove balloons from plastic transport bags as soon as possible after pickup or delivery.
Rough Ceilings and Sharp Surfaces
Fresh helium balloons have strong upward force when they are newly inflated. If helium balloons are released directly to the ceiling, they may hit the surface with force.
If the ceiling is rough, textured, sharp or has small spikes, it may damage or pop the balloons. This is especially important for latex helium balloons.
If you are unsure about the ceiling surface, please keep balloons tied down or display them in a safer area instead of letting them float freely to the ceiling.
Latex Balloons, Foil Balloons and Bubble Balloons
Latex balloons, foil balloons and bubble balloons have different float times and care requirements. Latex balloons are more delicate and may be affected more quickly by temperature, sunlight and air movement.
Foil balloons and bubble balloons generally last longer than latex balloons, but they can still be affected by heat, sharp objects, rough surfaces and rough handling.
Balloon float time can vary depending on balloon type, size, room temperature, sunlight, air movement and how the balloons are handled after pickup or delivery.
Personalised Balloons and Custom Designs
Personalised balloons, bubble balloons and custom printed balloons should be handled with extra care. Please avoid rubbing, scratching or pressing the printed or vinyl areas.
Keep personalised balloons away from moisture, heat, direct sunlight and rough surfaces to help preserve the design.
For personalised balloons with custom names, ages, messages or logos, please check the spelling and details before use and handle the balloon gently after pickup or delivery.
Indoor Display Is Recommended
Balloons usually perform best indoors in a cool, dry and stable environment. Outdoor conditions such as wind, rain, heat, direct sunlight, grass, rough walls or uneven surfaces may affect the appearance and lifespan of balloons.
If you are planning to use balloons outdoors, please understand that their condition may change more quickly depending on the weather and location.

Balloon Care FAQ
Why should I remove balloons from the plastic bag?
Plastic transport bags are only for moving balloons safely. If helium balloons stay sealed inside the bag for too long, heat and temperature changes may affect the balloons, reduce float time or cause damage.
Can I leave balloons in the car?
We do not recommend leaving balloons in the car for a long time. Cars can become hot quickly, and heat may cause balloons to expand, change shape or pop.
Can helium balloons float to the ceiling?
Yes, but please check the ceiling first. If the ceiling is rough, textured or sharp, fresh helium balloons may pop when they float up and hit the surface.
Do balloons last longer indoors or outdoors?
Balloons usually last longer indoors in a cool and stable environment. Outdoor conditions such as wind, rain, heat, direct sunlight and rough surfaces may affect the appearance and lifespan of balloons.
Do latex balloons and foil balloons last the same amount of time?
No. Latex balloons and foil balloons have different float times and care requirements. Float time can vary depending on balloon type, size, room temperature, sunlight, air movement and handling.
How should I care for personalised balloons?
Handle personalised balloons gently and avoid rubbing, scratching or pressing the printed or vinyl areas. Keep them away from heat, moisture, rough surfaces and direct sunlight.
