The brief

The brief: a surprise waiting at home

At 4:30 pm, our client took his wife out for dinner. While they were away, our team entered the home and prepared the decoration so everything would be ready for their return.

The client shared an AI-generated reference image to communicate the atmosphere he had in mind. He wanted us to recreate the overall feeling and balloon styling, without the illuminated Happy Birthday sign or the tabletop decorations shown in the original concept.

Concept to reality

Turning the concept into a real installation

The home had its own proportions and sightlines, so we adapted the idea to the space rather than copying it literally. The organic garland frames the glass doors, while the personalised statement balloon creates a clear focal point. Gold, cream, white and clear balloons keep the installation warm, layered and light.

The final setup followed the spirit of the reference while staying practical for the home and the evening surprise.

Installation detail

A wall-friendly way to secure the garland

Around the glass doors, the priority was a secure installation that would be straightforward to remove. Because the garland was positioned on glass, we used suction cups rather than hooks. This kept the painted walls clear and gave the team a clean way to frame the doors without leaving a permanent fixing behind.

Fixing method The garland was secured with suction cups on the glass doors, keeping hooks away from the painted walls.

The styling details

Personalised details that completed the setup

The installation brought together the reference image, the home’s layout and a few details chosen specifically for Alexandra’s birthday surprise.

The Bubble Balloon as the focal point

A 36-inch balloon was placed inside a clear Bubble Balloon outer layer. The outer layer was personalised with the visible message “Happy Birthday Alexandra”, giving the surprise a clear focal point without adding the illuminated sign from the concept image.

Organic balloon framing

The garland was built organically around the doors, with layered gold, cream, white and clear balloons to echo the warm palette from the reference image.

Helium and decorated bases

Helium balloons and decorated balloon bases added height and balance through the dining and living area, while keeping the focus on the personalised statement balloon.

The result

The final result

The finished installation recreated the overall mood and composition of the client’s reference while being tailored to the real home. The illuminated LED sign and tabletop styling were intentionally left out, as requested. When the couple returned from dinner, the home was ready for the birthday surprise.
