Before collecting inflated balloons from Chatswood, clear enough clean space in the vehicle for the order. Keep heavy, rough and sharp items away from the balloons, avoid heat and direct sunlight, and remove the balloons from their transport bags as soon as possible after arrival.
Balloon bouquets, number balloons, personalised balloons, bubble balloons and larger helium balloons can take up more room than expected. A little preparation before pickup makes the trip easier and reduces unnecessary contact with seats, doors, luggage and other objects.
Prepare the vehicle before collection
Start with a clean and empty area inside the vehicle. Remove shopping bags, boxes, tools and other items that could press against the balloons. Check for sharp edges or rough objects in the space where the order will sit.
Do not plan to squeeze balloons into a small gap. The space needed depends on the selected products and the size of the order, so there is no single vehicle recommendation that suits every pickup. If you are unsure about the space required, contact Happy Balloons before collection.
Chatswood pickup is available by pre-order. Review the Chatswood Pickup Guide before travelling so the collection details and location are clear.
Use transport bags for the trip, not for storage
Pickup and delivery orders may be packed in large plastic transport bags. The bags help protect balloons while they are being moved from the store or delivery vehicle to the destination. They are not intended as a storage container.
Leave the bags in place while the balloons are being carried and transported, then remove the balloons as soon as possible after arrival. Do not leave helium balloons sealed inside a transport bag, particularly in a car or another place where the temperature may change.
The full Balloon Care Guide covers transport bags, temperature, sunlight, surfaces and handling in more detail.
Keep balloons clear of heat and sunlight
Do not leave inflated balloons in a hot vehicle or in direct sunlight. Heat can cause the helium or air inside a balloon to expand, which may change the balloon's shape or cause it to pop. Strong sunlight and large temperature changes can also affect balloon performance.
Keep the vehicle environment as stable as practical during the trip. Avoid placing the order near anything that could press, rub or scrape the balloons. If the vehicle has been standing in the sun, consider the temperature inside before loading the order.
Give the balloons enough room
Balloon orders should not have heavy items placed on top of them. Keep luggage, bags and other objects separate from the balloons. Check that doors can close without catching the transport bags or pressing against the arrangement.
Handle the bags gently while loading and unloading. Personalised and printed balloons need extra care because rubbing or pressure can affect the decorated area.
If you are still deciding which balloons suit the event, the Helium Balloons collection shows the current range. Confirm the selected product and pickup arrangement before travelling rather than estimating the transport space from a general guide.
What to do after arriving
- Carry the transport bags into the intended indoor area.
- Remove the balloons from the bags as soon as possible.
- Keep balloon bouquets tied to their weights.
- Place the balloons away from direct sunlight, heaters and other heat sources.
- Check nearby walls, ceilings and furniture for rough or sharp surfaces.
Balloons generally perform best indoors in a cool, dry and stable environment. The material, size, temperature, sunlight, air movement, surfaces and handling can all affect the result, so this checklist does not promise a particular float time or condition.
Pickup, delivery and selected setup are different arrangements
With pickup, the customer is responsible for providing suitable vehicle space and handling the balloons after collection. Sydney local delivery and selected event setup are subject to the date, location, selected product, access requirements and schedule.
For current delivery information, read Balloon Delivery Sydney. Delivery does not remove the need to place and handle balloons carefully after they have been received.
Frequently asked questions
Can balloons stay inside their transport bags after pickup?
Transport bags are intended for moving balloons. Remove the balloons from the bags as soon as possible after arrival, and do not leave helium balloons sealed inside them in a car or another place with changing temperatures.
What type of vehicle should I use?
There is no single vehicle type that suits every order. The vehicle needs enough clean and empty space for the selected balloons without squeezing them or placing heavy, rough or sharp items nearby.
Can I leave the balloons in the car while I make another stop?
Do not leave balloons in a hot car or in direct sunlight. Move them to the intended indoor location and remove the transport bags as soon as possible after arrival.
What should I do if I am unsure whether the order will fit?
Contact Happy Balloons before collection with the order details. The space required depends on the products and order size, so it should not be estimated from a fixed vehicle or balloon count.
